Responsibilities
- Design and execute papercut portraits with meticulous diagonal cuts to reveal layered compositions.
- Utilize negative space to enhance visual impact and thematic depth.
- Experiment with contrast between surface and underlying layers to create subtle visual vibration.
- Refine techniques to emphasize identity as a process of revelation rather than addition.
- Prepare final works for display, ensuring structural integrity and presentation quality.
Requirements
- Proficiency in precision cutting tools (e.g., X-Acto knives, scalpels, or laser cutters).
- Strong understanding of composition, negative space, and layering techniques.
- Experience working with paper as a primary medium, with attention to material constraints.
- Ability to conceptualize and execute themes of identity, absence, and revelation in visual art.
- Portfolio demonstrating prior work in papercut art or related subtractive techniques.
Skills
- Precision hand-cutting or digital fabrication (e.g., laser cutting).
- Compositional design with an emphasis on negative space.
- Material sensitivity, particularly with paper and layered substrates.
- Conceptual development around themes of identity and transformation.
- Attention to detail in both execution and presentation.
