Jeroboam Group | RHEL Senior Systems Administrator

We are seeking a Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Systems Administrator to support a mission-critical environment in Kern, CA. This role is hands-on, onsite, and central to maintaining the stability, security, and performance of our customer’s Linux-based infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• RHEL Server Administration — Install, configure, harden, and maintain RHEL servers and workstations.
• System Troubleshooting — Diagnose and resolve performance issues, hardware failures, and software conflicts.
• Security & Compliance — Implement security controls, manage access, and apply patches in accordance with DoD requirements.
• Backup & Recovery — Perform routine backups and support disaster-recovery readiness.
• Performance Monitoring — Track system health and proactively address potential issues.
• Automation & Scripting — Automate administrative tasks using Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Technical Support — Provide Tier-level support to internal users.
• Infrastructure Upgrades — Assist with new technology adoption and environment enhancements.
• Cross-Team Collaboration — Work with IT leadership and partner teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Capacity Planning — Produce periodic performance reports to support future planning.
• Participate in R&D efforts to continuously improve processes and system reliability.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship (due to customer requirements).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Strong proficiency in RHEL installation, configuration, and maintenance.
• Experience with Bash and additional scripting languages (Python, Perl).
• Familiarity with system monitoring, performance tuning, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Must work onsite; this role is not remote-eligible.
• RHCSA or RHCE and Security+ (DoD 8140 compliant).
• Willingness to support after-hours/weekend maintenance as needed.
