Java Tech Lead - PL/SQL & Oracle
Role Description
UST is seeking an experienced Java Tech Lead with strong expertise in PL/SQL and Oracle to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on technical skills with strong leadership, architectural insight, and ownership of end-to-end solutions.
Opportunity
- Lead end-to-end application development using Java with a strong focus on Oracle and PL/SQL components
- Drive technical discussions, architectural decisions, and solution design across application and database layers
- Design, develop, and optimize PL/SQL objects including stored procedures, packages, triggers, and functions
- Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability through SQL tuning and database optimization
- Partner with product, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and quality delivery
- Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and review processes
- Mentor junior developers and guide teams on technical and design best practices
What You Need
- Strong hands-on experience with Java (Spring / Spring Boot preferred)
- Deep expertise in Oracle Database and PL/SQL development
- Proven experience in SQL performance tuning, execution plans, and indexing strategies
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and enterprise systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control tools, and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Leadership & Behavioral Traits: Self-starter with strong ownership and accountability, ability to lead technical discussions and influence stakeholders, strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, comfortable working in complex, compliance-driven environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, insurance, or regulated enterprise domains
- Prior experience in modernization, migration, or performance optimization initiatives
Compensation
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

- Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty.
