Java Software Engineer
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team! This position is located in St. Louis, MO.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and support Java Spring Boot microservices and APIs
- Build and maintain real-time event-driven data pipelines using Kafka Streams and Confluent Kafka
- Collaborate within Agile Scrum teams on user stories, troubleshooting, and sprint delivery
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable API-led integration solutions
- Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Develop and support RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints
- Automate builds and deployments using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
- Contribute to API development standards, architecture patterns, and best practices
- Mentor junior developers and support technical knowledge sharing
- Participate in load/performance testing and cloud-native solution development
- Work cross-functionally with architects, testers, and product teams to deliver enterprise-scale integrations
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or related field
- 7+ years of relevant enterprise software engineering experience
- Java development experience
- Spring Boot experience
- Confluent Kafka experience
- Node.js backend development (Express/NestJS preferred)
- Strong JavaScript knowledge (Promises, async/await)
- MongoDB Redis
- AWS cloud services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
- SQL/RDBMS query optimization
- Python scripting and automation exposure

Work Environment
Location: Hybrid in St. Louis, MO
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $40.00 and 58.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
