Japanese Bilingual Producer (Contract)
About the role
We’re looking for curious adventurers ready to find their party, fueled by imagination and drive to build what’s never been built before. At Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, you’ll collaborate with passionate teams to reimagine our iconic brands and create experiences that spark joy, connection, and community through the magic of play. This is your chance to shape legendary play that lasts a lifetime.
At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. From our genre-defining games like Magic: The Gathering® and Dungeons & Dragons® to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. We are seeking an EN/JP Bilingual Producer focused on the typesetting pipeline for Magic: The Gathering, who thrives in fast-paced production environments, tackles roadblocks with positivity, and has a passion for tabletop games and printed collectibles.
This key role will work with external licensors based in Japan and internal production teams within the Magic studio. You’ll own schedules and asset details, turn complex feedback into clear action items across simultaneous projects, and build tools and resources to keep our teams at full capacity.
Responsibilities
- Primary Producer for JP Interfacing: Serve as the main point of contact for Japanese-first sets, production editing, and creative technology groups, with secondary support for the card production group overall.
- Connect with External Partners: Act as the primary liaison between Game Production and Japanese IP partners. Compile, review, and deliver written presentations, production review files, and supporting materials in English and Japanese. Transform partner requests and feedback (often in Japanese via multiple channels) into documented English action items for internal teams.
- Facilitate Tool Development: Manage tech requests to ensure timely delivery, coordinating between internal tech teams and other teams across Wizards. Organize user acceptance testing, assist with documentation, and provide regular reports on tool rollouts. Help develop expanded tools to support Game Production as you grow in the role.
- Empower Game Production: Use Smartsheet, Excel, and Microsoft Teams to enable high-quality asset delivery by deadlines. Build and maintain project timelines, track metrics, surface risks, and proactively remove blockers. Flag scope shifts and maintain project momentum by addressing details and challenges.
Requirements
- Production Experience: 3+ years in games, entertainment, technology, licensing/franchise work, or high-output print production roles, managing multiple overlapping projects and schedules. Proficiency in Smartsheet, Excel, Jira, Confluence, Acrobat, PowerPoint, and print or digital asset pipelines.
- English & Japanese Fluency: Professional proficiency in English (speaking and writing) and Japanese (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding at a working professional level, N3 or higher). A deep appreciation for Japanese culture and intellectual properties.
- Problem Solving & Flexibility: Lead tool testing, track metrics, gather feedback, and develop process improvements in a dynamic environment. Adapt quickly and focus on minimizing manual updates for repeatable processes.
- Collaborative Drive: Self-motivated team player who removes blockers, builds trust, holds partners accountable, and supports cross-functional collaboration to advance Magic and its creators.
- Organized Communication: Manage high volumes of detailed information in various formats (files, timelines, processes) and communicate clearly, tailoring messages to different audiences. Listen attentively, connect dots, and close communication gaps.

- Experience working in a Japanese business environment.
- Familiarity with file types and digital asset management systems.
- Experience with software rollout/release and Jira ticket lifecycle.
