Janitor - Temporary Groundskeeper
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Outside rounds: remove and replace garbage liners, sweep all entrances for cigarettes and any excessive leaves from building entrances, dusting flat surfaces, pick up all large items of trash, remove any snow/ice, apply Ice Melt, pull weeds as seen while performing rounds, operate snow equipment Bobcat and or truck with plow, top dressing campus, watering plant materials.
- Special collection rounds and assistance for the special events
- Building rounds: reset any displaced furniture, empty and clean all waste containers, police for loose trash on all floors/hallways, remove any standing water as needed, clean tabletops and countertops, glass cleaning, dusting flat surfaces, washroom check, refill paper and hand soap products, clean mirrors and bowls, dust mop, vacuum carpeted areas
- Report any encountered problems such as light out, elevator down, broken fixtures, graffiti, fan/wet floor sign placement on wet/snow days.
- Must be able to follow written and oral directions
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a janitorial type position
- Eight paid holidays annually
- IL Sick days: 1 hour per 40 hours worked, up to an annual maximum of 40 hours
- Vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 1.54 weekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law
