About The Role

POAH Communities is currently seeking a Groundskeeper for 8330 On the River. The Groundskeeper will provide assistance by helping maintain the physical integrity of the community. 8330 On the River is a high-rise building located on the banks of the Detroit River across from Belle Isle and includes 280 apartments affordable to low-income elderly residents. The building was originally offered in a portfolio with five others, all nearing expiration of their Section 236 rent restrictions. It was against this backdrop that POAH and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) pursued the opportunity to maintain affordability when 8330 On the River became available in 2003. Details

• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of grounds, amenities, building exteriors, district office, pool and recreation areas, parking lots and other areas surrounding the property.
• May help with snow shoveling (where applicable) of sidewalks and other main entryways.
• Cleans and maintains storage and shop areas.
• Aids maintenance technicians when needed.
• Performs any additional routine cleaning / maintenance on property as requested as needed or directed.
• Reports any maintenance concerns for repairs on community and/or common areas to management.
• Demonstrates the appropriate and safe use of standard hand and power tools, equipment and machinery.
• Performs any additional routine maintenance on property as requested by the maintenance supervisor.

About You

• High School diploma or GED required.
• HVAC certification preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance coverage as use of personal vehicle may be required.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, user-moved aids, mechanical equipment, measuring devices.
• Ability to perform the following duties 66-100% of the time: be on feet, bend/stoop/squat/kneel, climb stairs, push/pull, reach above shoulder, climb ladders, grasp/grip/turn, finger dexterity, lift/carry up to 75lbs, be able to read and understand maintenance forms and warning labels.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
