Jacket Line Helper
About the role
The Helper is responsible to assist the Operator in all areas of manufacturing a quality product as efficiently as possible.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and load of empty reels
- Pull completed reels from the take-up
- Retrieve raw materials
- Load completed reels into the storage
- Absorb setup of the line on changeovers
- Assist in scrapping defective cable
- Support the Operator in the continuous operation of the Jacket line
- Perform routine housekeeping duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist to prepare, load, unload, and store process reels
- Retrieve raw materials and assist in loading them as the process requires
- Assist in disposition of non-conforming products
- Observe material and insulated wire while line is running and alert the Operator if line is running out of tolerance
- Absorb setup of line for product changeovers and after wire breaks
- Absorb maintenance of a clean work area (general housekeeping)
- Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor

Essential Purpose of This Position

Skills and Abilities Required
- Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.
- Must be able to move about freely in a heavy industrial environment.
- Must be able to qualify as a lift operator.
- This position requires standing and walking for most of the shift.
- This position requires lifting, bending, pushing and pulling.
- Some pushing of reels will be necessary.
- Most lifting is accomplished with material handling devices, i.e. reels movers, hoists, etc.
- Throughout the shift, incumbent must handle reels and tooling weighing 150+ pounds or more.
