ITS Engineer Intern

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, and implementation of ITS and transportation systems projects.
• Aid in the preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Contribute to systems engineering documentation, including concepts of operations and requirements.
• Collaborate with DOT clients, municipalities, vendors, and internal project teams.
• Assist with traffic operations analysis, system integration, and device selection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (preferred), Electrical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• 0 – 2+ years of relevant ITS or transportation engineering experience.
• EIT certification or PE licensure or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• Experience with ITS infrastructure such as traffic signal systems, detection, CCTV DMS, communications, or traffic management systems.
• Familiarity with TDOT standards and transportation agency processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with MicroStation, Wireless Analysis Tools, similar tools is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Willingness to work in office and field conditions.
