IT Training Specialist - Main MyChart Bedside - Full Time - Days

About the role

As a key member of the Information Technology (IT) team, this role is involved in all aspects of providing Epic training, coordination, and operational delivery of healthcare information technology for The Christ Hospital Health Network (TCHHN). The individual works with the development, implementation, and adoption of Epic for the Inpatient units, ensuring TCHHN maintains leadership in Patient Safety, Quality, and Cost Effectiveness. The role requires the ability to work autonomously while building technical and best-practice process linkages.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general overviews of the Epic system for various levels of the organization.
• Provide general Epic inpatient training to incoming clinicians and IP department educators.
• Develop and maintain IP generalist curriculum content (script).
• Coordinate appropriate levels of training for each user/superuser.
• Perform training for specific inpatient areas in conjunction with IP department superusers and educators.
• Assist with scenario-based training.
• Ensure deliverables are approved by the appropriate users and obtain QA sign-off for your area(s) of responsibility.
• Work closely with the Team Lead in designated area(s).
• Develop training plans for designated area(s) in conjunction with IP department educators.
• Perform end-user and superuser training.
• Assist with ongoing training issues.
• Coordinate training documentation for all Epic modules.
• Maintain effective communication between organizational departments and IT for Epic training.
• Demonstrate a professional attitude and ability to relate well with executive management, physicians, care providers, patients, and others in the hospital community.
• Proactively identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions to enhance IT education.
• Monitor customer satisfaction for IT services and mitigate complaints about IT service quality.
• Coordinate with the IT executive team to prioritize available resources based on business priorities.
• Identify opportunities for business and education process improvement after understanding key business processes and the impact of technology.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and IT Senior Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, information systems, or a related discipline (preferred).
• Working knowledge of clinical and ancillary functions, including Results, Orders, Clinical Documentation, Barcoding and Med Charting, E-mar and Pharmacy, Scheduling, ADT, EMPI, Registration, HIM, Billing/Collections, Cardiology, Lab, Radiology, PACS, ICU, Oncology, and Surgery.
• Epic experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically outside the boundaries of IT and avoid a “technology for technology’s sake” approach.
• Experience training all levels of users, including physicians.
• Appropriate certification in Epic applications (e.g., Clin Doc, Orders) or willingness to obtain certification within a recommended timeframe.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to present in front of large groups.
• Comfortable interacting with various levels of leadership.
• Experience with technology and/or healthcare is strongly desired.
• Knowledge of basic workstation functionality and ability to troubleshoot basic workstation issues.
