About the role
The IT Technical Support Intern role provides hands-on experience supporting IT operations, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting with projects in a fast-paced healthcare IT environment. This role involves direct interaction with clinical and administrative staff, gathering feedback on technical issues, and contributing to the efficient resolution of those issues.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular rounds on hospital floors to engage with end-users, identify technical issues, and gather detailed information about their concerns.
- Accurately log and document all reported technical issues in the IT ticketing system, ensuring clear and concise descriptions for efficient resolution.
- Assist in triaging incoming support requests and effectively communicate issue details to the appropriate IT team members for resolution.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of the Windows 11 upgrade project, including assisting with software deployments, user training, and troubleshooting.
- Work alongside experienced IT technicians to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, gaining practical experience in problem resolution.
- Assist with various IT initiatives and projects as assigned, contributing to the team's overall goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the IT knowledge base by documenting common issues and solutions, improving future support efficiency.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Currently enrolled in a relevant program pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or pursuing a technical certificate program focusing on IT support.
- Coursework or personal experience demonstrating a foundational understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, and operating systems (especially Windows).
- Any experience in customer service, whether in retail, food service, or other settings, is preferred.
Mental/Physical Requirements
- Considerable mental concentration for sustained periods of time with frequent interruptions.
- Moderate lifting (25 lbs.) required.
- Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching required in the course of transporting and installing hardware.
Working Conditions
- Office conditions with moderate noise and distractions.
- Possible eye strain or other discomfort from constant use of computer screens.
- May be required to work at other than routine scheduled times during implementation periods and while resolving technical issues.
