IT Tech Specialist II - Epic Solutions - Hybrid

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall design of hospital and inpatient EHR applications by aligning clinical, operational, and technical requirements within the Epic ecosystem.
• Translate complex business and care delivery needs into scalable, integrated technical solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles, integration strategies, and governance standards while driving consistency and optimization across workflows and systems.
• Address complex Epic functionality and integration challenges, support interoperability across platforms, and enable emerging enterprise initiatives, including AI-enabled capabilities and digitally supported care models such as Hospital Unbound.
• Maintain awareness of evolving technologies and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide architectural leadership in directing and coordinating the work of other staff.
• Assign tasks to staff, considering workload balancing, skill sets, technical knowledge, and criticality of the tasks.
• Serve as a consultant or tutor in many specific technical areas of expertise to staff throughout the Department of Information Technology (IT).
• Serve on appropriate committees, act as a resource to institutional committees, and facilitate institutional work groups.
• Lead technical planning for areas supported by work unit as part of yearly division planning, and serve as an active member or facilitator of technical workgroups needed to advance project objectives.
• Facilitate system technical reviews within the institution to ensure appropriate technical architecture and design, including understanding and applying concepts of enterprise architecture to ensure systems align, adhere, and integrate within Mayo Information Technology enterprise environment.
• Work independently on all projects and assignments, escalating to others based upon scope of authority, producing dependable results that consistently meet objectives.
• May be required to provide 24/7 on-call support.
• Interface routinely with colleagues who may be located at any of the Mayo Group practices to perform job responsibilities requiring virtual collaboration and partnership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience including 5 years’ of demonstrated technical experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience OR Associate's degree and 10 years' experience including 5 years’ of demonstrated technical experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience.
• Demonstrated project and deliverable consistency through repeatable and reliable performance.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication, organization, problem solving, and facilitation skills.
• Evidence of mastery level expertise in multiple technologies.
• Demonstrated ability in solving complex technical problems with multiple technologies.
• Experience working in healthcare technology.
• Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications.
• Master's degree in applicable field preferred.

Pay

$134,347.20 - $194,750.40 / year

Schedule

Full Time
Monday - Friday
Between 7:00am to 7:00pm CST.

This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus for occasional on-site expectations based on business needs.

Weekend Schedule
24/7 on call - May need to be on an on-call rotation and possible upgrade weekend support.
