About the role
Banner Health is seeking a skilled IT Systems Engineer III to join our team, specializing in structured cabling and IT room design. This hybrid role primarily involves on-site work at our facilities in the Central Valley of the Phoenix Metro Area, with some flexibility for remote tasks. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and advancing our infrastructure to meet the highest industry standards.
In this position, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing structured cabling systems and IT rooms that support our growing technological needs. Your expertise will be critical in enforcing cabling standards to ensure system reliability and performance.
Schedule
This role works Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm, ensuring a consistent schedule that supports a strong work-life balance.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement structured cabling systems and IT rooms to support technological needs.
- Enforce cabling standards to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Lead, plan, design, implement, and support Information Technology infrastructure, networks, hardware, and applications for large-scale projects.
- Identify, investigate, track, and resolve multi-level project, system, or application errors with timely and accurate resolution.
- Determine appropriate solutions based on unique situations and ensure timely updates and communication to customers.
- Design end-user training and curriculum for applications and systems, facilitating initial rollout and ongoing support.
- Assess and develop strategies to meet the needs of internal and external customers, defining expectations and striving to meet identified outcomes.
- Compile professional, well-thought-out designs for complex technical processes for presentation to senior-level management.
- Lead or participate in feasibility studies, RFI development, and capital budget planning.
- Provide technical information regarding current and future industry concepts, hardware, and software.
- Monitor all installed systems and infrastructure in line with company guidelines or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Conduct high-level root cause analysis for service interruptions and establish preventive measures, collaborating with software vendors as needed.
- Document design, maintenance, and support procedures, creating comprehensive technical documents such as process maps, business requirement documents, system diagrams, application maps, test plans, and work instructions.
- Develop and update fully integrated testing scenarios and provide information for comprehensive functional and integration testing plans.
- Provide technical expertise and resolution to complex, multifaceted problems for customers across various departments.
- Coordinate change management documentation and ensure approvals are managed according to departmental procedures and ITIL standards.
- Offer constructive advice on processes, functions, and redesign opportunities resulting from technology implementation.
- Present broad, complex information persuasively to drive action.
- Participate in change programs by planning implementation activities with other change champions.
- Interpret new strategic directions for the workgroup and set objectives and standards.
- Implement monitoring and feedback systems, evaluating progress and making continuous improvements.
- Solicit and offer ideas for improving primary business processes.
- Provide leadership for company staff, IT staff, and various committees guiding the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex application and system specifications.
- Participate and lead task forces to plan, implement, and coordinate facility activities to maximize IT service quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Maintain current professional and technical knowledge related to the healthcare industry through educational workshops, conferences, and certifications.
- Identify and improve communication to resolve team conflicts and foster a diverse, inclusive environment.
- Present information tailored to the interests, level, and needs of the audience, actively engaging participants.
- Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are supported and tracked at all levels of work effort.
- Provide expertise and guidance to the user community and mentor junior members of the department.
- Develop, direct, coach, and reinforce team members in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, values, goals, and performance standards.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education, technical, business, and healthcare experience.
- Four to seven years of experience in a healthcare environment.
- Certification or credentialing in designated areas as required by certain assignments.
- General knowledge of information technology and healthcare.
- Experience in medium-scale project planning and reporting, either individually or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to communicate and interact across facilities and at various levels.
- Skills to mentor less experienced team members.
