IT Systems & Cloud Administrator
Position Summary
The IT Systems & Cloud Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure and AWS environments. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and security of enterprise systems by administering operating systems, cloud services, and infrastructure components. The position plays a key role in system modernization, cloud integration, and infrastructure optimization, including backups, disaster recovery, and system upgrades. The Cloud Systems Administrator proactively monitors system health, implements security best practices, and resolves technical issues across hybrid environments. This role collaborates with IT leadership to recommend and implement scalable, secure solutions that support business operations. Additionally, this role supports emerging technologies, including AI/ML-related infrastructure and cloud-based AI services, as part of the organization’s evolving technology landscape.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage and secure hybrid infrastructure including on-premise systems and cloud platforms (Azure and AWS)
- Administer cloud services including identity (Entra ID / IAM), compute, storage, networking, and security controls
- Maintain servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and network infrastructure
- Aid in the deployment, monitoring, and support of AI/ML-related infrastructure and cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure AI, AWS AI/ML), including associated compute, storage, and security components
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security using monitoring and logging tools
- Perform system maintenance including patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions across on-prem and cloud environments
- Enforce security policies, perform vulnerability assessments, and respond to security events
- Manage access controls, identity systems, and compliance configurations across platforms
- Recommend and implement system and cloud enhancements to improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Participate in infrastructure projects including cloud migrations and system upgrades
- Support & Operations: Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and cloud-related issues, provide Tier 2/3 support, and assist with Help Desk escalations
- Support Microsoft 365 and enterprise applications
- Develop and maintain system documentation, SOPs, and architecture diagrams
- Participate in change management and operational planning
Knowledge And Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5+ years of experience in Systems Administration in a hybrid (on-premise and cloud) environment
- Strong experience administering Windows Server environments, including AD, DNS, and DHCP
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Virtual Machines, Azure Virtual Desktop, and security/compliance tools
- Hands-on experience with AWS core services, including IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, and CloudWatch
- Experience managing hybrid identity and access (on-prem AD integrated with cloud platforms)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across infrastructure, networking, and cloud platforms
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to support and interact with end users
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Splunk) is a plus
- Linux administration experience is a plus
- Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure AI Services, AWS SageMaker) is a plus
- Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator)
