About the Role
The IT / MIS Manager at Gulfport Job Corps Center is responsible for overseeing the center’s network infrastructure, systems administration, technical support operations, and technology planning within a dynamic residential training environment. This role requires a proactive approach to technology, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a 24/7 operational setting.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support the Center’s LAN/WAN network infrastructure and systems.
- Ensure system availability, reliability, security, and optimization.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, PCs, printers, scanners, network devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Manage Windows Server environments, backups, imaging procedures, and system integrity.
- Provide help desk support and technical assistance to staff and students.
- Maintain software licensing, updates, system currency, and technology compliance.
- Develop, test, and modify systems or programs to support operational needs.
- Lead systems-related project planning, performance management, and security reviews.
- Serve as the Center’s primary liaison with the DOL Job Corps Data Center (JCDC).
Requirements
- Mandatory: High School diploma or GED, two years’ experience as a Lead Network Administrator for database system support, one year of CITRIX support experience, experience with and demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting, LAN, WAN, computer hardware and software, successfully pass any background check and/drug test required on the contract, ability to obtain & maintain valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
- PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Qualifications
- Experience in systems administration, network management, or IT infrastructure support.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server systems, networking, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, system performance monitoring, and network communications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to technical issues in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Skills
- Experience with system imaging, backups, configuration management, and help desk support.
- Knowledge of LAN, WAN, computer hardware and software.
