About the role
This position ensures the effective operation of the network, hardware, and software of the information technology systems. The role involves designing, testing, evaluating, and managing IT systems, with responsibilities spanning networking, hardware, and software. The position includes occasional assignment of activities to other employees and involves contact with customers and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Administer Windows servers within the County network, including installation, configuration, and maintenance; ensure regular system updates.
- Manage system backup functions; design and implement disaster recovery plans for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications.
- Maintain and monitor VMware environments.
- Perform analysis, troubleshooting, system monitoring, and administration of the IP phone system and Unity Voicemail, including maintenance and support.
- Administer the Exchange email system: install, configure, and initiate Exchange servers; provide on-call support for end users; monitor and analyze email server software, system usage, and plan for capacity growth; resolve messaging system issues.
- Install and maintain SQL database servers.
- Monitor and maintain the helpdesk support system.
- Distribute and monitor server storage space allotments; set up Active Directory, related policies, security, and batch files.
- Provide support for hardware, software, and equipment issues; perform service or maintenance for server equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with outside vendor technical support to resolve operating issues.
- Input new telephones, voicemails, call attendants, and attendant consoles; stay abreast of the latest telephone technology.
- Conduct network asset management functions, including maintenance of network component inventory.
- Analyze system and application usage; recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements.
- Add or remove new and existing end-user accounts.
- Develop, implement, and maintain technology policies and training for end users; ensure systems are performing properly.
- Analyze and troubleshoot data or performance issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
