IT Support Specialist
About Cape: Cape is America’s privacy-first mobile carrier. Our mission is to be a force for good in global wireless. Founded in 2022, we believe privacy is a fundamental right, not a luxury. We built America’s most private and secure mobile carrier from the ground up, addressing critical vulnerabilities in legacy cellular infrastructure that track movements, monitor connections, and sell personal data. Today, Cape serves consumers, businesses, and government agencies, providing a secure network with unmatched privacy and security features. We closed our Series C in March 2026 and are scaling rapidly to give people control of their personal information.
About the Team
At Cape, we are architects of a privacy-centric movement, relentlessly innovating at the edge of telecommunications. We operate on high trust and high expectations, with a flat structure where collaboration matters more than hierarchy. You’ll work alongside world-class engineers, architects, and visionaries to solve "impossible" problems and deliver mission-critical results daily.
About the Role
We're looking for an Onsite IT Support Specialist to be the friendly, first line of IT support for our DC office. You’ll own the day-to-day employee IT experience, from seamless onboarding to fast resolution of support requests and smooth offboarding. You’ll also manage hardware inventory and ensure our onsite spaces (desks, conference rooms, AV) are always ready.
Purpose:
- Make technology invisible: Ensure every Cape employee can focus on our privacy and national security mission without IT interruptions.
- Turn hypergrowth into a smooth ride: Rapid hiring, new offices, and new tools could create chaos—this role ensures scale feels effortless.
- Keep us fast and accountable: Maintain secure, tracked, and audit-ready devices, access grants, and hardware as we grow into certifications like CMMC and SOC 2.
Responsibilities
- Be the face of IT in our DC office, providing hands-on support and shaping the IT buildout of new spaces.
- Own IT onboarding through hypergrowth, delivering a smooth day-one experience for multiple new hires bi-weekly and continuously improving the process (e.g., automating provisioning, reducing setup time).
- Resolve Tier-1 support tickets against SLAs, then exceed them by building automations and AI workflows to drive down resolution time and improve satisfaction.
- Build and maintain our asset-management system for laptops, peripherals, and specialty hardware across offices, international travelers, and remote employees, ensuring audit readiness for certifications like CMMC Level 2.
- Shape Cape’s physical IT presence, including new offices, conference-room and AV tech, and visitor systems, with a mandate to implement the best technology available.
- Navigate ambiguity and learn fast: Evaluate, integrate, and document new vendors and tools weekly, including SSO/SCIM, device packaging, and workflows.
Requirements
- 2-3+ years of experience in IT support, particularly in a dynamic and evolving tech environment.
- Hands-on experience supporting Apple/macOS laptops (comfort with Windows and Linux is a plus).
- Familiarity with mobile device management (Iru, Jamf, or similar).
- Experience with ticketing/helpdesk systems (e.g., Jira Service Management) and working to SLAs.
- Demonstrated ability to set up, troubleshoot, and maintain conference room hardware and software.
- Comfort with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365 administration basics.
- Proven track record of managing IT hardware procurement and inventory.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve hardware/software issues quickly.
- Excellent customer-service instincts, clear communication, and reliable follow-through.
- Eagerness to work on projects impacting privacy and national security.
- May require lifting or carrying desktop computers up to 25 lbs.
Pay
Salary range for this role in New York, NY is $85,000–$105,000, depending on experience and interview performance. We offer competitive, geo-adjusted compensation and meaningful equity to share in the value you help create.
Benefits
- 401(k) match
- Unlimited PTO
- 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision premiums for you and your dependents
- 12 weeks paid parental leave (for all parents, no waiting period)
- Stipends for family-forming needs and gender-affirming care
