IT Supervisor, Dev Ops
Supervises and directs employees in the planning and delivery of one or more technologies integral to IT services.
About the role
The DevOps Supervisor leads a team of cloud and platform engineers responsible for automation, deployment, and operational support of critical technology services. This role provides technical leadership for ONE Gas's AWS cloud environment, driving cloud architecture, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and platform modernization initiatives while partnering across IT and business teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong AWS expertise with proven leadership skills to develop high-performing teams, advance DevOps practices, and enable technology solutions that support business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and day-to-day direction to a DevOps team responsible for automation, deployment, operational support, and continuous improvement of technology services.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for cloud platforms, guiding the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of AWS-based solutions and services.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of DevOps initiatives and technology projects, ensuring work is delivered on time, aligned with business priorities, and supported through implementation.
- Promote and mature agile delivery practices, helping the team execute work with consistency, accountability, and a focus on delivering business value.
- Partner across development, infrastructure, and leadership teams to strengthen coordination, improve delivery outcomes, and support operational stability.
- Guide the team in evaluating, organizing, and prioritizing incoming work requests, operational support needs, enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain visibility into the team’s work pipeline, helping ensure priorities are clearly defined, work is sequenced appropriately, and deliverables continue moving forward.
- Facilitate collaboration with business partners, technical teams, and leadership to clarify requirements, remove blockers, and support successful delivery of team commitments.
- Establish work management practices that promote transparency of priorities, iterative delivery, and effective execution across the DevOps team.
- Foster the growth and development of team members through technical mentorship, coaching, knowledge sharing, and continuous feedback.
- Oversee team defining tactical activities and processes to address issues with infrastructure.
- Provide input into long-term strategies as defined by IT Leadership.
- Work directly with vendor representatives to ensure proper support and response for areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with other leadership to ensure technologies are deployed and available to meet requirements for projects or overall strategic direction.
- Provide detailed status of support activities or problem management to impacted parties.
- Ensure technical resources are knowledgeable about expected service levels for services relying on technology supported by their areas.
- Assist with definition and implementation of service level metrics.
- Assist with defining or updating new IT policies and procedures.
- Provide detailed information about resources or technology maintenance contracts in support of financial forecasting.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and/or work experience in addition to relevant job-related experience.
- Seven to ten years of relevant experience (minimum of five years required).
- 2+ years of experience leading a DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or similar technical team in a medium-to-large enterprise environment.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting AWS cloud environments, including responsibility for cloud architecture, identity and access management (IAM), networking, security, and Infrastructure as Code.
- History of successfully designing, implementing, or supporting AWS networking and connectivity solutions, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect, and integrating cloud platforms with enterprise networks and on-premises infrastructure.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience administering and supporting AWS services such as EC2, S3, Route 53, IAM, AWS Organizations, EKS, Lambda, RDS, ALB, NLB, and Terraform in production environments.
- Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment processes, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud automation solutions in an enterprise environment.
- Experience managing small to medium hardware or software implementation projects.
- Experience managing integrated solutions that support multiple business functions, including understanding business processes and related technology.
- Demonstrated ability guiding the business toward strategic IT solutions, ensuring business leadership has a clear understanding of the cost/benefit of the solution.
- Experience managing all aspects of the system development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, RFP development, software evaluations, project methodologies, testing, and deployment.
- Experience with the application of math, algebra, and statistical methods.
- Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software.

- Experience with infrastructure technologies and communicating impacts resulting from development activities.

- Applicable Driver's License.
- Able to use office tools and equipment required.
- Communicate and/or exchange information or instructions; conduct oral presentations and/or meetings.
- Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
