About The Position

Duties
- Lead studies designed to identify potential improvements in the way information technology is applied to key business functions.
- Audit new systems design methodologies to improve software quality.
- Review the impact of new systems design policies on the systems design process.
- Plan and coordinate BPA-wide implementation of process improvement methods and concepts to improve the quality of software products.
- Develop and standardize systems design methods.
- Plan and conduct simulations to determine capacity requirements and recommend hardware/software replacements or upgrades to meet current and future requirements.
- Generate and run simulation models for future applications.
- Develop and implement migration strategies.
- Develop and present plans for integrating new server technology into existing architecture.
- Plan and coordinate the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade of enterprise management software and related enterprise-level changes to the systems infrastructure.
- Exercise overall responsibility for the continuing functionality of all servers in the enterprise LAN.
- Develop BPA-wide procedures for responding to new threats to systems confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen.
- You must pass a Public Trust Background Check.
- You must be able to pass a Selective Service registration requirement if you are a male born after December 31, 1959.
- You must be willing to work an on-call rotation, performing normal duties after hours during emergency situations.
Qualifications
- BASIC REQUIREMENT: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
- To meet this requirement, You Must demonstrate proficiency in each of the four competencies listed above as follows:
- GS-13: Advanced - You can perform the actions associated with each of these competencies without assistance. You are recognized within your immediate organization as "a person to ask" when difficult questions arise regarding each of these competencies.
- Focused on broad organizational/professional issues; You have consistently provided practical/relevant ideas and perspectives on process or practice improvements which may easily be implemented.
- Capable of coaching others in the application of each of these competencies by translating complex nuances relating to each competency into easy to understand terms.
- Participate in senior level discussions regarding these competencies.
- Assist in the development of reference and resource materials in these competencies.
- SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service.
- Experience applying IT principles, practices, and methods to (1) perform the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of enterprise-wide hardware and software systems including virtualization platforms and components (e.g. VMware ESXi, vCenter, vRA, VCF, NSX/NSXT; Nutanix HCI, Prism, AOS, AHV); (2) provide technical expertise on emerging technologies, industry trends, and proposed new systems development projects; and (3) ensure compliance with appropriate information technology security principles, practices, and procedures.
