IT Specialist (Infosec)

About the role

You will serve as an IT Specialist (InfoSec) in the Manpower & Administrative Department, Field Support Activity of FLDSUPPACT.

Responsibilities

• Operate with minimal supervision, independently handle highly complex assignments, adapt established practices to non‑routine problems, and make decisions impacting command‑wide IT programs.
• Plan, direct, and control the implementation, sustainment, and lifecycle management of information systems and IT equipment.
• Lead IT governance, cybersecurity, and compliance efforts in accordance with Department of War and Department of the Navy policy.
• Guide enterprise data management, analytics, and decision‑support capabilities by improving data quality, accessibility, interoperability, and visualization across manpower, financial, and administrative systems.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct‑deposit pay program.
• New Department of the Navy employees must successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
• Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must have served at least one year at the next lower grade level (time‑in‑grade) by the closing date.
• Retired military members appointed within 180 days of retirement are subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326.
• Males born after 12‑31‑1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Cyber Workforce position – Info Systems Security Manager (Advanced); must obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 and Department of Navy policies.
• Cyber Workforce position – Program Manager (Intermediate); must obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 and Department of Navy policies.
• Cyber Workforce position – Cyber Policy and Strategy Planner (Intermediate); must obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 and Department of Navy policies.
• Position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites, including remote or isolated locations; ability to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods is required.
• This is a Mission Essential position; you will be required to ensure continuity of operations and completion of tasks essential to the mission.

Qualifications

• At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑12 grade level (or comparable private/public sector experience).
• Demonstrated knowledge of advanced cybersecurity frameworks and federal data‑security mandates.
• Experience executing complex IT systems analysis to transition networks into secure cloud environments.
• Ability to lead IT forensics operations to rapidly identify, contain, and report cyber breaches.
• Advanced problem‑solving and written communication skills for evaluating technology contracts and providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Proven attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
• No specific education requirement.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program and may be used to fill additional vacancies.
