Responsibilities

  • Coordinate IT requirements with the NMCI NGEN vendor, the command’s, and NMCI’s information security professionals.
  • Prepare documentation for the transfer of command IT property, including collection, documentation, and destruction of hard drives and other data storage media to comply with security guidance.
  • Validate work completed for assigned areas using the pre-invoice process or full payment process validation checklist and forward documentation to the division point of contact for review.
  • Aid end users of enterprise IT services and accounts, identify and resolve IT security issues, and correct problematic trends.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Current federal employees must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
  • Retired military members appointed within 180 days of retirement may be subject to specific provisions.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites, via military or commercial aircraft for extended periods.
  • May be called to duty as necessary.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position (work role code 411, proficiency level: technical support specialist). The incumbent must obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 and Department of Navy policies.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of information technology-related experience in the federal service or private/public sector, showcasing the following competencies:

  • Attention to Detail: Designs, develops, and maintains IT asset tracking systems, data models, and databases supporting technical service requests.
  • Customer Service: Provides technical support to customers by diagnosing and resolving IT problems related to computing asset delivery, software configuration, hardware deployment, and network connectivity.
  • Oral Communication: Modifies IT procedures and policies in response to new regulations, directives, and guidance; expresses information effectively to individuals or groups.
  • Problem Solving: Analyzes recurring technical issues and service request patterns to identify trends, recommend preventive measures, and improve service delivery efficiency.

In addition to the above competencies, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve a variety of technical IT problems and monitor performance to ensure quality services.
  • Monitor hardware, software, and account services for compliance with standards.
  • Correct problematic trends and evaluate methods to remediate local and enterprise technical problems.
  • Convey information clearly and persuasively in writing for the intended audience.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs.
