IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/CUSTSPT).

This position is a full-time role located in Meridian, MS.

About the role

You will assist personnel in utilizing existing IT, Information Management (IM), and Knowledge Management (KM) systems and processes to enable the efficient display and sharing of information associated with the training center. Additionally, you will:

• Provide analysis in support of IT acquisition, IT contract review, NMCI task orders, and shared services business practices.
• Analyze programs to determine whether there is an equipment malfunction, software problem, or lack of user understanding regarding the use of equipment or software; provide training as necessary.
• Manage changes to hardware, software, firmware, system documentation, and testing throughout the operational life of all systems.

Responsibilities

• Apply acquisition management policies and procedures when evaluating IT products and services, developing Electronic Classrooms (ECR), and providing training and mentorship to lower-level personnel.
• Apply cybersecurity policies to safeguard unclassified information.
• Utilize oral and written communication techniques to build professional relationships with leadership and represent the workplace in interactions with other organizations.
• Apply IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices to plan and carry out a broad variety of difficult and complex IT issues.
• Stay informed on rapidly changing technology standards to evaluate their possible impact on organizational missions and develop plans to satisfy requirements.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 722 - INFOSEC Manager, proficiency level intermediate. You will be required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes:

• Applying acquisition management policies and procedures.
• Applying cybersecurity policies to safeguard unclassified information.
• Utilizing oral and written communication techniques to build professional relationships.
• Applying IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices to address complex IT issues.
• Staying informed on rapidly changing technology standards and their impact on organizational missions.
