About the role

The IT Specialist at Knife River is responsible for providing technical support and maintaining the company's point-of-sale systems, servers, and other IT infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of Windows platforms, Active Directory, and other relevant technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of file directory structure and security on all Windows servers.
  • Ensure computers, routers, switches, and Operational Technology equipment have up-to-date anti-virus, security software, operating system patches, and remote control tools.
  • Provide network support for the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).
  • Install and support cameras, wireless equipment, traffic controls, scale interfaces, and other supporting hardware for Point of Sales systems.
  • Coordinate testing of patches and upgrades with the Knife River Corporate IT Team.
  • Contribute knowledge of and provide technical support for the deployment and migration of new network technologies in an Active Directory, Citrix, AVD, and Cloud environments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all company computers.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party IT service providers to coordinate tasks.
  • Act as an extension of the Knife River Corporate IT Team during special projects and on-call support.

Requirements

  • Two years of specialized training or an associate’s degree.
  • One to two years of related IT experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of computer and network hardware and cabling.
  • Knowledge of computer network protocols such as TCP/IP and working knowledge of DNS.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of considerable standing, walking, crawling, and lifting of personal computers.
  • A current, valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Office 365, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience configuring and supporting Windows operating systems.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality of all company information.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Understand and adhere to current KRC policies as it relates to IT security and access to confidential information.
