IT Sourcing Leader (Hybrid position)

About the role

The IT Software Sourcing Leader will collaborate closely with Medical Center IT Missions (MCIT), IT Finance, Legal, and Vendor leadership to ensure alignment with NYU's goals and objectives, emphasizing quality, innovation, competitiveness, efficiencies, and cost savings. This role requires in-depth knowledge of different licensing models, cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP experience required), and software sourcing strategies. The candidate will analyze spend data, perform market analysis, and lead the end-to-end RFx process. This position reports to the Software Sourcing Manager.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of annual and multi-year sourcing strategies and plans for IT software.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand current and future software needs.
• Lead end-to-end IT software sourcing projects using the 7-Step Strategic Sourcing Process.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with key IT software vendors.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and optimize service delivery and cost-effectiveness with suppliers.
• Lead commercial and contractual negotiations for IT software sourcing projects.
• Provide subject matter expertise on technology contracts and terms, including Master Framework Agreements, Software License Agreements (SaaS, EA), Maintenance and Support Agreements, and Product Agreements.
• Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging software technologies.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
• Work closely with finance and stakeholders to manage and optimize costs related to IT software.
• Examine and interpret business needs pertaining to cloud and on-premises services.
• Utilize advanced analytical methods to evaluate expenditure trends, pinpoint cost-driving factors, and recommend optimization strategies.
• Perform total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements to meet or exceed annual savings targets.
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with the IT software category, ensuring business continuity and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Carry out supplier due diligence as required and take ownership for sourcing issues, actively participating in their resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on sourcing strategies and objectives.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to provide updates on sourcing initiatives and performance.
• Participate actively in shaping policies, processes, workflows, and system design and configuration discussions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Minimum of three years of strategic sourcing experience for various commodities (both products and services) within and outside healthcare organizations.
• Experience in operational, procurement, or sourcing roles.
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of procurement/sourcing processes.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $97,589.95 - $122,968.54 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
