IT Solution Owner

About the role

This position leads the IT Clinical Applications Pharmacy team, which supports Cerner PharmNet and other clinical applications used across the Pharmacy space. The role is primarily remote, with occasional onsite work required for strategic planning meetings, go-live support, and other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and manage information technology projects, applications, and professionals.
• Develop and implement IT strategies to achieve desired business outcomes.
• Collaborate with management across diverse areas and multiple states to pursue system-wide solutions.
• Coach staff on enhancements to plans and implementations based on industry experience and operational needs.
• Identify strategic initiatives through input from staff, vendors, and clients.
• Regularly meet with senior clients to discuss business changes and potential opportunities.
• Develop tactical and strategic initiatives to proactively address client needs.
• Participate in the design, direction, and coordination of IT projects, systems, or applications.
• Ensure adherence to department and company standards for reliability and functionality.
• Collaborate with business partners on key issues and advise on business processes and re-engineering opportunities.
• Conduct project planning, including managing tasks, deliverables, milestones, risks, and status updates.
• Participate in feasibility studies, RFI/RFP assembly, ROI calculations, and strategic planning sessions.
• Set objectives, monitor performance trends, and provide feedback to improve standards.
• Delegate responsibilities and reallocate resources to meet priorities.
• Present information tailored to the audience’s needs and facilitate open communication.
• Plan development and mentoring activities for direct reports.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise staff, including initiating promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
• Establish priorities, workloads, controls, and work procedures.
• Participate in change programs and implement monitoring and feedback systems.
• Evaluate progress and drive continuous improvements.
• Solicit and offer ideas for improving business processes.
• Proactively address client needs and collaborate on complex service coordination.
• Lead or participate in task forces to maximize service quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, technical, business, and healthcare experience (typically seven or more years).
• Substantial knowledge of information technology, healthcare, and/or operations for an assigned specialty area.
• Proven leadership experience in large-scale project planning, reporting, and budgeting.
• Experience with specific IT process methodologies, depending on assigned responsibilities.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Leadership skills to engage across facilities and at various organizational levels.
• Ability to recruit, mentor, motivate, evaluate, and retain staff.
• Willingness to work variable shifts, carry/respond to a pager, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of experience in Healthcare IT or a similar field.
• Previous experience with Cerner PharmNet.
• Previous leadership experience.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Pay

Estimated pay range: $50.12 – $83.54 per hour. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity.
