About the Role

The IT Software Asset Management Analyst (SAM Analyst) administers software asset and license management processes, ensuring accurate and compliant software data by configuring discovery tools to maintain the Configuration Management Database. This role supports software asset lifecycle integrity, data quality, and ITIL processes while providing critical inventory, compliance, and security information to IT and business teams. It contributes to audit readiness and helps optimize the software portfolio and spending.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the Software Asset Management system, including normalization, rationalization, entitlements, contracts, software models, and governance
  • Ensure software license compliance through usage monitoring and audit support
  • Develop and maintain governance policies, data standards, training materials, and configuration item mappings
  • Manage software asset lifecycle from request to retirement
  • Create dashboards and reports to measure portfolio health and compliance
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through license optimization
  • Collaborate with procurement and stakeholders on vendor management and contract negotiations
  • Provide guidance on software licensing requirements
  • Participate in ITAM tool implementation and automation initiatives

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship due to Department of Defense restrictions
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent education/experience
  • ITIL v4 Foundations or CSAM, CITAM certification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, IT Operations, Procurement, or related field
  • Experience administering Software License/Asset Management platforms such as ServiceNow Discovery/SAM Pro
  • Knowledge of IT asset lifecycle management and governance
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Understanding of Tier 1 vendor software license metrics and terms
  • Analytical skills for data management, budget forecasting, and contract interpretation

Pay

Salary range: $75,000 to $90,000, with base pay varying based on knowledge, skills, and experience.

Schedule

Hybrid work is preferred for candidates within Wisconsin, with remote work possible in specified states.
