IT Senior Software Engineer (Hybrid)

Eversource will not offer immigration-related sponsorship for this position. Applicants requiring visa sponsorship to start employment will not be considered. Hybrid schedules may be available, requiring at least three days in the office (including Tuesdays and Wednesdays), with flexibility for the third day based on department needs. Employees must be available to work up to five days in the office for emergencies, training, or policy changes.

About the Role

Design and implement new systems and features, as well as modify and maintain existing systems for adaptation to business and/or technology changes. Engage directly with IT management, development teams, technical delivery teams, and vendors to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of technology-based solutions. Drive the software change and release management processes, assisting with the overall maturity of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • May manage moderately sized projects or processes, viewed as a subject-matter expert within the discipline.
  • Solve difficult and often complex problems with minimal oversight from management.
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals; mentor lower-level engineers.
  • Influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of goals, budgets, and operational plans for the discipline.
  • Own functional areas of application development architecture (e.g., entire Front-End or Back-End).
  • Make moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties, including customers and vendors.
  • Independently scope and implement larger user stories, handling ambiguity and making well-reasoned software design decisions.
  • Elevate testing practices and contribute to foundational improvements in engineering domains.
  • Lead and coach within the team, ensuring documentation for critical systems.
  • Automate processes and simplify developer onboarding.
  • Must be available for emergency restoration assignments and travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of related experience, with advanced to expert knowledge of the work area.
  • Experience at a utility and/or with Maximo system development required.
  • Broad knowledge of project management.
  • Substantial knowledge of Eversource projects, programs, or systems.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $127,350.00–$141,500.00. This position is eligible for a potential incentive.
