Requires an active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance. Day shift with up to 10% travel.

About the Role

The IT Scrum Master supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This role operates in a geographically dispersed, hybrid environment and partners closely with the Release Train Engineer (RTE) to align the Scrum Master role with program-level SAFe frameworks and Agile release trains.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with the RTE to define, mature, and align the Scrum Master role with program-level SAFe frameworks and Agile release trains.
  • Collaborate with the RTE to design, implement, and train the IT team on customized Agile processes, helping technical staff transition to a structured Agile delivery model.
  • Establish a cohesive "one-team" dynamic across geographically split locations (HSV and COS) using virtual collaboration tools and an inclusive hybrid engagement model.
  • Facilitate an optimized Agile battle rhythm tailored to the operational needs and delivery cycles of IT and infrastructure teams.
  • Guide and coach the team and organization on Agile/Scrum practices to deliver high-quality IT solutions.
  • Assist the Product Owner and Technical Leads with backlog maintenance, prioritizing IT initiatives, and translating technical requirements into actionable user stories.
  • Ensure all planning data is documented in the system of record for accurate reporting and metrics development.
  • Deliver metrics to the RTE on a recurring (weekly) basis.
  • Identify, track, and resolve impediments or blockers hindering the team’s ability to meet Sprint goals.
  • Manage and track team capacity, sprint velocity, and burn-down charts using Agile lifecycle management tools.
  • Facilitate cross-team coordination and dependency management, especially for complex enterprise system upgrades or break/fix activities.
  • Ensure IT service delivery and cybersecurity compliance tasks are integrated into the Agile workflow.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
  • Influence and mentor highly technical engineers who may be new to Agile frameworks.
  • Align team-level operations with the broader organizational vision defined by the program's RTE.
  • Manage remote/virtual team dynamics, ensuring active participation and communication across multiple time zones.
  • Quickly learn challenging IT and infrastructure concepts to better understand team impediments and technical debt.
  • Operate in an ambiguous, "greenfield" environment to build and document standard Agile processes from the ground up.
  • Identify project risks, resource bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve team efficiency as a self-starter.
  • Facilitate effective interchanges with senior customer management, Product Owners, and technical staff using excellent presentation, oral, and written skills.
  • Maintain a "can-do" attitude in a high-pace, dynamic enterprise IT environment and embrace change.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of general (full-time) work experience, which may be reduced with completion of advanced education.
  • 2+ years of directly related experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Project Manager.
  • Current Agile certification (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM I), or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM)).
  • Experience using Agile management and collaboration tools (such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps) to facilitate remote and hybrid teams.
  • Experience applying Agile methodologies to IT operations.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (must be able to obtain Top Secret clearance).

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Prior experience in Agile/Scrum practices within a technical team, ideally under the guidance of an RTE or Agile Coach.
  • Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), particularly in a DoD or government contracting environment.
  • Technical background or previous experience in System Administration, Network Engineering, or IT Service Management.
  • Experience integrating ITIL methodologies (Change, Incident, Problem management) with Agile processes.
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity processes, such as RMF, Secure Host Baselines, and DISA STIGs.
  • Advanced Agile certifications (e.g., A-CSM, PSM II, PMI-ACP, or SAFe Release Train Engineer).

Pay

$149,000 – $174,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and certifications directly related to the position.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive nationwide Medical/Dental/Vision insurance programs.
  • Life insurance.
  • Matching 401k contribution.
