About the role

This role is responsible for the overall enterprise planning, estimation, resourcing, budgeting, and successful on-time execution delivery for McCormick’s technology portfolio global programs and projects. The Program Manager acts as a liaison to coordinate with other portfolio programs/projects across the organization to proactively address dependencies and potential blockers. They oversee all aspects of on-time and on-budget delivery execution in a release management model by managing project managers responsible for projects within the program portfolio.

The Program Manager will collaborate with key leaders from multiple McCormick business functions, process teams, the Organizational Readiness team, systems integration partners, and other third-party partners. This role reports directly to the Director of PMO and requires strong business and technical acumen, as well as the ability to influence successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates day-to-day program management activities for a release to track, measure, and report on timeline, scope, and resources.
  • Ensures standard program tools, processes, and stage gate controls are met.
  • Owns the Program/Release integrated workplan, deliverables management, and manages dependencies and milestones across release workstreams and the release critical path.
  • Proactively identifies and resolves program risks, issues, and cross-functional dependencies, including those with other programs/projects.
  • Drives continuous improvement and learnings, facilitating rapid implementation and adoption.
  • Reports release health to program leadership and provides inputs for accurate and timely reporting of program release status.
  • Oversees, develops, communicates, and deploys consistent project management best practices, including processes, tools, and reports.
  • Supports PMO in KPI and metrics generation by ensuring accurate and timely data is provided by the release team.
  • Coaches and champions PMO ways of working, processes, and tools.
  • Facilitates communication between PMO and workstreams on integrated plan changes.
  • Serves as the primary Program Manager for assigned releases, partnering closely with systems integrator partners, project managers, other program managers, workstream functional leadership, and release & deployment leadership to drive execution.
  • Maintains visibility into the Program Plan & Schedule for their assigned release.
  • Ensures predictable execution and delivery of assigned workstreams project plans in collaboration with release leads.
  • Implements and manages changes and actions to ensure release milestones are achieved.
  • Collaborates with other program managers and the integration team to manage cross-functional RAIDx and dependencies.
  • Works with the release organization readiness lead to ensure effective and transparent communication regarding release issues and decisions.
  • Supports release resource management in coordination with the PMO resource manager.
  • Attends daily standups and addresses resulting RAIDx items.
  • Assists release leads with escalation of release scope, schedule, resources, and cost issues (e.g., change requests).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • 10-12 years of experience in executing complex, cross-functional global program/portfolio management across multiple technologies, business functions, and IT.
  • Experience in SAP implementation is heavily preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use experience and acumen to effectively influence and drive successful outcomes.
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment under pressure and in sensitive situations.
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project/program management.
  • Experience working with a broad range of PMO counterparts, systems integration partners, cross-functional workstreams, processes, and core business customers to develop solutions for complex, global business problems.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to international business locations if required.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and global time zones.
  • Ability to set direction for others to work toward goals and completion of objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of consumer packaged goods and industrial food manufacturing businesses, and various functional areas globally.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and cross-regional teams by demonstrating acumen and influence to drive success.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply independent judgment to solve complex problems; inspires loyalty and trust; handles oneself ethically.
  • Ability to motivate, lead without formal authority, influence outcomes, and get things done through others.
  • Advanced negotiation skills with external service providers and internal business partners.
  • Regular communication with Program Leadership, Steering Committees, and function heads.

Pay

Base Salary: $121,900–$219,410. Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of current employees. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
