About the role

Blue Mantis is looking to hire an IT Operations Engineer to support multiple customers in the Los Angeles area. The ideal candidate will be proficient in supporting various systems and applications, including server and cloud environments, and should also have experience with networking. This team supports a wide array of technologies to meet the needs of our customers’ large enterprise network environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Windows, Linux, and Unix environments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Administer cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and O365 for enterprise workloads and containerization.
  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot VMware-based environments to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and availability of virtualized infrastructure.
  • Leverage platforms such as SolarWinds and DataDog to ensure network reliability and performance.
  • Lead network-related incident resolution, ensuring SLAs are met and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Implement and support secure networking solutions, ensuring robust protection in on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including topology maps and procedures for troubleshooting.
  • Provide game day support on major holidays when games are played.
  • Support and troubleshoot backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Rubrik and Zerto, ensuring data protection and system resilience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a complex, multisite environment.
  • Strong experience with Cisco Nexus/Arista/Meraki Switches, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Windows, Linux, and Unix environments using the ServiceNOW ticketing system.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, O365, VMware) and virtualization/containerization technologies, Infoblox, DNS, and remediation of vulnerabilities.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, routing protocols, and network monitoring tools like SolarWinds.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to dynamic priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Network troubleshooting in data center environments (Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki, Arista).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automating server and cloud operations.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based networking solutions in AWS, Azure, or O365 environments.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration for managing distributed applications.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, SIEM platforms, and endpoint protection.
  • Experience with advanced video streaming technologies and CDNs.
  • Certifications: CCNA, CCNP (or equivalent), ITIL, and technical certifications in servers and/or cloud.
