IT Officer

About the role

The University of New Mexico School of Engineering (SoE) and the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) are seeking an Information Technology Officer (ITO) to join the OVPR/CIO teams. This position is foundational to the UNM IT Campus Outreach program and operates within a matrixed reporting structure that combines operational oversight from the SoE with planning and coordination from the CIO office. The ITO will serve as the primary information technology manager for the SoE, integrating academic, administrative, and research IT services to enhance the customer experience across campus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the administration of information technology services for the School of Engineering, including academic units, administrative units, and SoE Research Centers.
• Serve as the IT manager for the SoE, overseeing day‑to‑day technology operations and support.
• Collaborate with campus‑wide IT resources and initiatives to ensure effective and efficient pathways for the research community.
• Promote, support, and advocate for the SoE’s strategic initiatives and the specific needs of its research community.
• Work both independently and as part of the UNM IT team, maintaining consistent access to the full range of expertise and technology solutions available to campus.
• Integrate academic and research IT services into a support structure focused on customer experience.
