IT Network Engineering III

While this is a remote position, the successful candidate must reside within 50 miles of a FedEx Freight location within the continental US.

About the Role

Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity across the organization. Provides technical expertise in network operations, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
• Monitor network performance and implement improvements to optimize reliability and throughput.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruption.
• Assist in network capacity planning and scalability initiatives.
• Implement and maintain network security measures in compliance with organizational standards.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams on projects and technology upgrades.
• Document network configurations, processes, and procedures for operational continuity.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in network engineering or administration.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), LAN/WAN technologies, and network security principles.
• Experience with enterprise-grade networking hardware and software (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.).
• Familiarity with SD-WAN, VPN, and cloud networking solutions.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and implement effective solutions.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing, operating, and maintaining SD-WAN, Edge and Data Center switches, wireless infrastructure, and Firewalls.
• Proven experience in automation and scripting.
• Strong analysis skills and process management.
• Ability to design and administer relevant monitoring systems with applicable reporting.

Job Conditions

• Some travel required
• On-call support for critical network incidents as needed

Pay

The compensation listed reflects the pay range or rate of pay reasonably expected for this posted position at the posted location(s). If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the pay information represents the minimum and maximum range for all levels. Actual pay is determined by job-related factors permitted by law and relevant to the position, such as experience, tenure, market level, pay at the location for this job, performance, schedule, and work assignment.

• Pay Range: $83,799.00 - $160,894.00 per year

  • Henderson, Mead: $94,693 - $151,509
  • Gypsum: $100,559 - $160,894
• Illinois Pay Ranges:
  • Effingham, Kankakee, Lincoln, Quincy, Rockford, Aurora: $89,665 - $143,465
