About The Role

The Network and Systems Technician at TUSCOM plays a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our clients' network infrastructure and communication systems. This position involves installing, configuring, and supporting a broad range of network hardware and software, including firewalls, switches, access points, VPNs, and VoIP systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing virtual environments such as vSphere and Hyper-V, supporting SAN/NAS storage solutions, and ensuring seamless integration across multiple customer sites. The role requires a proactive approach to automation and process improvement, with an emphasis on scripting, documentation, and operational efficiency. Collaboration within a team environment is essential, as is excellent communication skills to support end-users and clients effectively. The position may involve after-hours, holiday, or weekend work to ensure continuous service delivery.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma is required, with technical certifications, an associate’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Candidates should possess at least three years of relevant experience in network management, configuration, and support.
• Additional certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or similar credentials are advantageous.
• The role demands physical capability to lift 55 pounds and perform mechanical tasks, along with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
• Familiarity with cloud services such as Azure, Office 365, and enterprise storage solutions is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support firewalls, switches, and access points to ensure secure and reliable network connectivity.
• Maintain and troubleshoot VPN connections to facilitate remote access and secure communications.
• Support virtualized network environments, including vSphere, Hyper-V, and SAN/NAS storage systems.
• Implement and manage VoIP phone systems such as Mitel, 8x8, and RingCentral to ensure effective communication channels.
• Configure and support Fortinet UTM firewalls, Cisco switches, and firewalls to maintain network security and performance.
• Cooky with service providers like AT&T, Comcast, and Windstream to implement voice and data carrier services.
• Assist multiple customer locations with diverse network configurations, ensuring consistency and reliability across sites.
• Identify opportunities for automation and operational improvements, developing scripts and documenting procedures to enhance efficiency.
• Provide technical support to end-users, team members, and clients, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Participate in on-call rotations, including after-hours, holiday, and weekend coverage, to maintain service continuity.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to support ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
