Responsibilities
- Assist in translating business outcomes into clear and achievable technical solutions.
- Gain exposure to Aegon's Snowflake environment, DBT transformation layers, and AWS-based services.
- Support data and workflows tied to investment management platforms such as Aladdin (e.g., positions, transactions, and portfolio data).
- Work closely with experienced team members to contribute to engineering activities early in the change process.
- Contribute to engineering activities early in the change process while building an understanding of scope, feasibility, data design, and solution approaches.
- Support the delivery of high-quality, solution-focused technology outcomes across the full delivery lifecycle.
- Build technical skills and business awareness while contributing to the development, testing, and deployment of solutions that meet business needs, including integration and data flows across investment platforms.
- Contribute to the technical build with support from senior engineers, including assisting with analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Ensure solutions are reliable, secure, and aligned with engineering and data standards.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in software development, infrastructure engineering, or platform operations within agile delivery environments.
- Hands-on experience with DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure coding.
- Certifications in relevant technologies, cloud platforms, or agile methodologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, Scrum, SAFe) are desirable but not essential.
- Background in financial services or asset management preferred.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of the software delivery lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and support, within a DevSecOps framework.
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, with exposure to AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EC2, S3, IAM, or CloudWatch (through coursework, training, or internships).
- Exposure to SQL and data platforms such as Snowflake, including foundational querying and data concepts.
- Awareness of data transformation tools such as DBT is a plus but not required.
- Exposure to automation, scripting, or AI-supported tooling through academic, training, or project experience is beneficial.
- Curiosity and openness to learning emerging technologies, including AI for automation, optimization, and innovation.
- Developing ability to apply technical skills and business context to support solutions that deliver value.
- Foundational knowledge of one or more programming languages or engineering disciplines (e.g., application development, infrastructure, or data).
- Strong willingness to collaborate and learn from Product Owners, Analysts, and Engineering team members.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to ask questions, share ideas, and participate in team discussions.
- Openness to feedback and continuous learning in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic awareness of security, data privacy, and operational considerations.
- Understanding of working within structured or regulated environments is a plus.
- Exposure to financial services or asset management platforms (such as Aladdin) is beneficial but not required.
