IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC)

This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It supports the mission of the US Cyber Command and is classified as Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure, located in the DISA - FE/Endpoint Services /Customer Support Directorate.

Responsibilities

• Manages the data center installation service node’s network equipment and infrastructure for the Classified Support Division.
• Validates and approves requests for new equipment and cable installations.
• Provides technical oversight for internal project design and development activities to facilitate integration and interoperability within the J6 enterprise.
• Investigates trends and patterns in information technologies and computer systems development.
• Leads integrated teams to assess effectiveness of system implementation, identify deficiencies, and advocate enhancements.
• Recommends and oversees tests, equipment modifications, and training for users and maintainers.
• Applies expert knowledge in database design, data management, and database administration concepts and principles; organization data assets, policies, and standards; data administration, modeling, and standardization.
• Provides expert technical guidance, interpretation, and implementation oversight of applicable information security policies, processes, and practices to ensure continued operational availability and integrity of enterprise applications and systems.
• Drives continuous improvement by examining work processes and making suggestions to enhance quality, timeliness, and efficiency of oversight and project management policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
• In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position requires completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
• The incumbent must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• This is a drug-testing position.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

• Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing your own information technology-related work or data and being asked by others to review their work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
• Customer Service: Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs, and developing or identifying tailored IT products and services.
• Oral Communication: Experience briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Problem Solving: Experience identifying alternatives to address complex IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from various sources to develop potential solutions.

Qualifying Experience: For the GG-13 level, your resume must describe at least one year of experience demonstrating the competencies necessary for immediate success. This includes experience planning and applying IT policies to achieve seamless multidisciplinary system integration, delivering expert technical guidance and security oversight to ensure operational availability, and leveraging emerging technologies and architecture to align business processes with resource requirements. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience within their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-13 grade level.

• If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
• Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006.
• A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
• Telework availability will be based on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
• Moving costs may be paid.
• Recruitment, relocation, or retention incentives may be authorized.
• This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140, which may subject it to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
