About the role

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA J9 - Infrastructure Engineering and Deployment Branch.

Responsibilities

  • Help Gathers infrastructure requirements to design, develop, plan, deploy, and implement solutions within a complex hybrid infrastructure, encompassing both on-premise and multi-classification cloud environments.
  • Configures, installs, tests, and maintains network infrastructure devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and their operating systems.
  • Maintains network performance and capacity, diagnoses connectivity problems, and applies necessary patches to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Integrates new systems into the existing network architecture and provides expert feedback on network design and infrastructure requirements.
  • Applies a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and network security measures to protect against malware and cyber threats.

Requirements

  • The position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment.
  • Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.

Qualifications

  • Basic Requirements: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
  • Competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
  • Qualifying Experience: At least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.
  • Experience: Experience with network design, implementing, and maintaining of multi-cloud architectures; analysis, operation, test, evaluation, and maintenance of a wide range of vendor technologies to include but not limited to Juniper, Cisco, and Palo-Alto Routers/Switches/Firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, and DNS with Infoblox.
