IT Cloud Engineer
About the role
The Cloud Engineering 2 team within Cloud Services (Infrastructure) is excited to announce an opening for an IT Cloud Engineer on the Cloud App Factory team. The candidate will be developing and enabling features and capabilities in the existing products. Experience with Google Cloud Platform is required (Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, Workflows, Cloud Functions, Cloud Load Balancing, IAM & Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP), VPC Service Controls, Private Service Connect, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networking, and Cloud Armor).
Responsibilities
- Develops moderately complex scripts using a tool or combination of tools to automate a task or a series of tasks.
- Develops and complies with SLAs or OLAs.
- Documents new or modified solutions, installation instructions, and other system-related information.
- Writes configuration for cloud platforms leveraging appropriate tools.
- Collaborates with developers and is responsible for the "Ops" part of DevOps.
- Develops and maintains tools and frameworks that other teams use to smoothly develop their applications.
- May use technology to implement automation and orchestration.
- Develops, builds, or implements cloud solutions based on business and technology considerations to satisfy customer needs.
- Works to integrate cloud solutions with existing enterprise tools and systems.
- Ensures compliance of cloud solutions to architectural standards.
- Works with information security to ensure Cloud solutions support maintenance of a secure technology environment.
- Aids in planning and validating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Cloud solutions.
- Supports compliance of role-based access control (RBAC), cost containment and cloud provider account management.
- Assists in developing time and cost estimates for cloud solutions.
- May develop, review, and modify Cloud systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
- Participates in evaluation of technical requirements to determine the impact of Cloud technologies on the infrastructure including equipment redundancy and capacity requirements.
- Supports and maintains the physical design for cloud-based solutions for infrastructure and platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 3 years' experience with 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience, or Associate's degree with 5 years' experience with 1 years demonstrated leadership experience, or HS/GED with 7 years of experience in a large, complex organization like Mayo Clinic may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Experience deploying and operating on a public cloud framework.
- Ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical ability and data-driven mindset.
- Ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge and skills.
- Familiarity with service design and pricing in the context of cloud-based solutions.
- Experience with cloud deployment, technical and security architecture, database architecture, virtualization, software design, software development, IP networking, Linux, Agile development, SCRUM, application lifecycle management, .NET, programming languages, technical solution architecture, SOA, Windows Azure, Amazon AWS.
- Certification in cloud engineering is required within 12-24 months.

$112,819 - $157,955 / year
