About the Role
We’re hiring educators and professionals with a passion for mentoring others to join California Institute of Applied Technology (CIAT) as an IT Certification Bootcamp Instructor specializing in CompTIA PenTest+. This remote position supports our mission of empowering students through practical, certification-focused training in competitive technology fields. Instructors deliver synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams, ensuring alignment with CIAT’s adult learner framework and certification readiness.
Responsibilities
- Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams, with flexibility for evenings and weekends based on the course schedule.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and engagement, adapting strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Ensure instructional methods align with CIAT’s adult learner framework and emphasize certification readiness.
- Maintain current certifications in the subject area(s) taught, including renewal and professional development.
- Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the field, connecting subject matter to related disciplines.
- Design, update, and align course materials with college standards for adult learners, ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Select instructional materials that align with course objectives and review content for accuracy and relevance.
- Maintain accurate student records for attendance and grades, ensuring compliance with FERPA and institutional policies.
- Promote collaboration with staff and participate in new projects to support student success and institutional goals.
- Adhere to CIAT’s business casual attire policy and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
- Stay current with trends, best practices, and didactic approaches in higher education and IT certification training.
Requirements
- Appropriate certification in one or more of the following: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CISSP, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a training setting, ideally delivering IT certification bootcamps.
- Advanced subject matter expertise in IT certification topics, with a preference for synchronous online teaching experience.
- Prior experience in curriculum development and instructional design for IT certification bootcamps.
- Familiarity with training tools such as CertMaster, TestOut, or similar platforms.
- Effective presentation skills and strong communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and learning technologies like Canvas and Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and problem-solve effectively in a timely manner.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects diversity.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in higher education and IT training.
- Adherence to all college policies, procedures, and compliance requirements, including academic integrity and student conduct.

Schedule

Pay
$41 - $44 USD per hour.

- This is a remote position, with work performed from a home office located in California, New Mexico, Florida, or Massachusetts.
