Key Responsibilities
- Lead capacity planning and performance engineering across distributed compute platforms, VMware ESX infrastructure clusters, hosts, vSAN, HADR, resource pools, internal cloud container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, microservices), and external cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, PaaS, SaaS).
- Use enterprise observability telemetry and APM tools to identify saturation points, performance bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.
- Ensure capacity sufficiency for client resiliency strategies including Active-active and Active-passive architectures, Multi-data center failover and cross-site workload mobility, RTO/RPO alignment, and regulatory resiliency requirements.
- Model DR environments to sustain full LOB workloads during failover events, regulatory testing, and crisis scenarios.
- Influence system design and infrastructure architecture expertise to guide platform scalability, performance engineering, high availability, resiliency patterns, cloud modernization, hybrid architecture decisions, infrastructure lifecycle, and capacity investment planning.
- Forecast, model demand, and manage capacity forecasts aligned to business growth, regulatory drivers, and technology modernization initiatives.
- Translate business demand into infrastructure requirements and capital planning recommendations.
- Lead capacity planning for hardware reclamation including identifying underutilized, end-of-life, or decommission eligible assets, partnering with data center operations to reclaim, repurpose, or retire hardware, ensuring reclaimed capacity is reintegrated into planning models, and supporting lifecycle optimization, cost reduction, and sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain accurate capacity inventories and ensure reclamation activities align with client asset governance and risk controls.
- Identify capacity risks, systemic constraints, and performance degradation patterns across hybrid environments, drive remediation plans with engineering operations and platform teams to maintain service stability and meet client resiliency standards, and support incident and problem management with deep technical analysis of capacity-related events.
- Own the ITIL-aligned Capacity Performance Management process for the assigned LOB, produce executive-ready dashboards, risk summaries, and capacity health reports for senior technology leadership, and ensure compliance with regulatory audit and operational risk requirements.
- Cross-functional technical leadership, no direct reports, serve as the capacity authority for the LOB, influencing engineering, architecture, resiliency, and cloud strategy decisions, partnering with Finance, Enterprise Architecture, and Technology Operations on cost optimization, rightsizing, reclamation planning, and lifecycle management, providing technical mentorship to analysts and engineers through expertise, not administrative oversight.
- Agile experience and lead a mature agile team.
