IT Business Partner - Operations & Technology

About the role

The IT Business Partner serves as the primary liaison between The McDonnel Group's internal teams and its outsourced IT provider. This role focuses on driving the effective use of technology across the organization, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through new tools, integrations, and emerging technologies, including AI.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for TMG’s outsourced IT provider
• Manage day-to-day communication, priorities, and escalations
• Hold vendor accountable to service levels, response times, and quality of support
• Cook up and coordinate resolution of technical issues and ensure timely follow-through
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through technology
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, and solutions
• Support the integration of emerging technologies, including AI, into business processes
• Partner with leadership to align technology initiatives with company goals
• Lead or support the rollout of new systems, tools, and software updates
• Cook up with departments to ensure successful implementation
• Provide training, guidance, and support to drive user adoption
• Monitor effectiveness and recommend improvements
• Ensure key systems (project management, accounting, HR, training platforms) are aligned and functioning efficiently
• Identify and address gaps between systems, workflows, and data flow
• Work with internal teams and vendors to improve system connectivity and usability
• Provide occasional hands-on support for technology-related issues in the office
• Triage issues and coordinate with the IT vendor for resolution
• Act as a resource for employees navigating systems and tools

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in IT, systems management, business analysis, or related field
• Experience working with or managing third-party IT vendors
• Strong understanding of business systems and software platforms
• Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technology solutions
• Experience supporting or leading system implementations or process improvements
• Familiarity with Procore or similar systems
• Exposure to AI tools, automation, or digital transformation initiatives
• Experience working in outsourced or hybrid IT environments

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening successfully
• Must possess a current and valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record

Physical Demands

• Regularly use close vision to read reduced-size fine print, reports, schedules, spreadsheets, summaries, and other documents in either hard copy or computer monitor
• Converse on the telephone and in person
• Use hands and fingers to write and type
• Prepare email messages with attached files
• Use personal computers and calculators
