About the Role

Orrick has an excellent opportunity for an IT Business Analyst III in our Global Operations & Innovation Center in Wheeling, WV. This role involves collaborating with the IT PMO Manager and other firm members to gather, review, analyze, and summarize business requirements into user stories or requirement documents for the Information Technology team. You will work independently on a broad range of projects and participate in cross-functional teams to bring innovative products to fruition.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, review, analyze, and summarize business requirements into user stories or requirement documents.
  • Develop a working knowledge of multiple business systems to drive effective and efficient business requirements.
  • Develop, accumulate, and organize content for various IT initiatives.
  • Collaborate with lawyer and staff teams on innovative products.
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop and implement solutions.
  • Manage enterprise knowledge systems and ensure they are used to their fullest potential.
  • Employ new and creative communication technologies and methods to enhance understanding of business systems.
  • Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop optimization strategies.
  • Scope new project requests and ideas to ensure strategic alignment and prioritization.
  • Identify scope, requirements, impact, outcome criteria, and success metrics on a project-by-project basis.
  • Elicit, document, and analyze project requirements using standard templates.
  • Create process diagrams and perform systems analysis to understand processes, systems, and data.
  • Prepare clear and concise requirements models for developers and project teams.
  • Develop business case documentation to justify project investments and demonstrate value.
  • Prepare cost estimates and develop cost/benefit analyses for new requests and project ideas.
  • Create wireframes and mockups to elicit requirements and visualize proposed solutions.
  • Create test plans and perform functional, regression, user acceptance, and other relevant testing.
  • Provide training and support to users and stakeholders on new solutions and processes.
  • Manage projects related to business analysis, develop project plans, and monitor performance.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Document and communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Stay up-to-date on process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
  • Lead the team in updating, implementing, and maintaining procedures and standards.
  • Mentor more junior business analysts.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and IT team members to ensure clear communication.
  • Manage competing resources and priorities.
  • Monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the team's success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or similar, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of demonstrated business analysis experience.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in a professional services environment.
  • Working experience with IIBA BABOK.
  • Working experience with Business Analysis methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis, documentation, and presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and/or other process diagramming tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of data modeling principles, database architecture, and data management concepts.
  • Strong understanding of system integrations, application interfaces, and cross-platform interactions.
  • Business analysis certification is highly preferred but not required.
  • Experience with information systems in a client service-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Initiative in working with users, internal teams, and third parties.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $108,000. The level of pay within the range will depend on various job-related factors, including qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, and geography.
