About the role
The City of Newport Beach seeks a motivated individual to join the City Manager's Office. Currently, there is one full-time Information Technology (IT) Analyst vacancy assigned to the Applications team.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with users to identify business procedures, workflows, and issues, and to propose, design, and implement appropriate application solutions.
- Modifies existing systems to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and support new functionality.
- Manages and assists with new software implementations.
- Supports the design and development of enterprise database systems that are integral to the organization’s day-to-day operations, while monitoring their performance, integrity, and security.
- Designs, develops, and maintains reports and dashboards based on business requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience: Depending on area of assignment, three (3) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in: application development, design & testing, web-based applications and database integration, computer systems analysis, data analysis and reporting; or hardware and software support, with at least one year of experience in administering Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory, Security and LAN/WAN software and hardware; or experience designing, implementing and maintaining GIS databases, surveying principles, cartography and map layer design.
- Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in management information systems, computer science, or a related field.
- Licenses/Certificates: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
Requirements
- Requirements: Three or more years of experience in performing business systems analysis, including requirements gathering, end user acceptance testing, process mapping, workflow diagramming, documenting business rules, feasibility studies, and cost/benefit analysis.
- Programming/scripting languages: Experience with C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript, SQL, CSS, and PowerShell.
- Department/application analysis: Experience analyzing business processes and information systems.
- Field of study: Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Driving record: Current and valid California driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Pay
The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This position may work a 5/40, 9/80, or 4/10 schedule.
