About the role
The IT Administrator ensures the effective operation of Bakerly’s end-user technology environment, supporting employees with hardware, software, and account management needs. This entry-to-mid-level role focuses on L1 and L2 helpdesk support, user account administration, device lifecycle management, and software asset tracking. The position provides front-line IT support to keep Bakerly’s employees productive and upholds the company’s mission and values.
Responsibilities
- User & System Account Management:
- Create and maintain user accounts via Active Directory and Azure AD.
- Manage access control and security group assignments.
- Create and maintain user accounts in systems other than AD/Azure AD as needed.
- Set up and manage user mailboxes, distribution groups, and shared mailboxes; modify security settings within Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive).
- Device Management:
- Create and manage base OS images for desktops and laptops and keep them current.
- Install and configure network printers and copiers.
- Order and configure computers, monitors, and peripherals per company requirements and approved standards.
- Order approved licensed software; manage yearly renewals; track costs and license keys.
- Maintain hardware inventory (models, purchase dates, warranty dates) using Snipe-IT or equivalent asset management system.
- Deploy and configure end-user equipment including desktops, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mice, scanners, headsets, and phones.
- Configure and troubleshoot VoIP phones.
- L1 & L2 End-User Support:
- Handle Level 1 and Level 2 (L1/L2) helpdesk tickets, troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a timely manner both in person and remotely.
- Escalate issues beyond L2 scope to the Sr. IT Administrator or appropriate senior team member.
- Utilize the ticketing system (Freshdesk) to track and complete IT support tasks.
- Administrative Support:
- Assist management with IT-based contracts with outside vendors as directed.
- Support office expansion, equipment relocation, and assessment of equipment/IT needs.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by your manager, relevant to your role and within the scope of your area of expertise.
Requirements
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications (preferred): CompTIA A+, Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), or Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS).
- Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in IT support or helpdesk roles.
- Experience with Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Active Directory.
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting end-user hardware and peripherals.
- Skills:
- Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 user administration (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage hardware inventory and software asset tracking.
