About the role

The Robotic Branch of the Intelligent Sustainable Technologies Division (ISTD) of the Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ATAS) is seeking student interns for Fall 2026. Interns will work on various aspects of dexterous control of a robotic arm and small mobile platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct background research
  • Design mechanical and electrical systems using SolidWorks
  • Program and debug software
  • Test and validate system performance

Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Robotics Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Part-time intern – must be registered for 6+ credit hours
  • Preferred qualifications include knowledge of design principles, experience with rigid body transformations, strong math skills, familiarity with Linux and open-source tools, and familiarity with configuration management tools like git

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to non-technical personnel
