About the role
The Robotic Branch of the Intelligent Sustainable Technologies Division (ISTD) within Aerospace, Transportation, and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ATAS) at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking Graduate Assistants for Fall 2026. These positions involve working on various aspects of dexterous control of a robotic arm and small mobile platforms. Tasks include background research, SolidWorks design, programming, debugging, and testing.
Responsibilities
- Conduct background research on robotic control systems
- Create and modify mechanical and electrical designs using SolidWorks
- Write and debug software for robotic platforms
- Test and refine robotic systems
Requirements
- Pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science at Georgia Tech
- Registered for at least 3+ credit hours
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of design principles
- Experience with rigid body transformations and their numeric representations
- Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
- Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (git in particular)
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to non-technical personnel
