Job Summary

We're seeking specialists in pathogen isolation to contribute to the development of high-quality training data for advanced language models. This data will be used to democratize world-class education, accelerate infectious disease research, and support diagnostic laboratories worldwide.

About the Role

As an Isolating Pathogens Specialist, you will work with large-scale language models to test their ability to isolate bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic pathogens from clinical and environmental samples. Your responsibilities include challenging the models on various aspects of pathogen isolation, documenting failures, and suggesting improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics.

Responsibilities

• Challenge advanced language models on topics like isolation of bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic pathogens from clinical and environmental samples.
• Differentiate and selectively plate samples to identify and document pathogen presence.
• Document colony morphology, gram staining results, hemolysis patterns, anaerobic culturing methods, and contamination control procedures.
• Verify the factual accuracy and logical soundness of the models' responses to real-world lab scenarios and theoretical microbiological questions.
• Capture reproducible error traces and provide feedback on model performance.
• Suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics based on your expertise in pathogen isolation.

Requirements

• A PhD in microbiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a closely related life-science field is preferred.
• Peer-reviewed publications and hands-on experience with pathogen isolation in clinical, research, or public health labs are beneficial.
• Knowledge of biosafety levels (BSL-1 to BSL-4) is essential.
• Clear, metacognitive communication skills are crucial.

Qualifications

A PhD in microbiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a closely related life-science field is ideal; peer-reviewed publications, hands-on experience with pathogen isolation in clinical, research, or public health labs, and knowledge of biosafety levels (BSL-1 to BSL-4) signal fit.

Pay
