About the role
Creates and inspires great open admissions public schools in New Orleans.
Ensures college and career readiness for all students, nurtures character, health, and active citizenship, develops team members' skillfulness, and builds a sustainable organization.
The faculty is diverse and dedicated to student success and teacher growth. Leadership holds itself accountable for both.
Responsibilities
- Makes sure students assigned to in-school suspension are monitored
- Checks attendance daily and reports to the attendance clerk
- Explains expected conduct and achievement to students
- Assigns and checks student work during suspension periods, reviews progress
- Discusses appropriate behavior with students, behavior of students with administrators, teachers, and parents
- Makes sure inappropriate behavior is reported to administration
- Maintains records on students receiving after-school detention, out-of-school suspensions
- Mails letters about suspensions to parents
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED minimum
- Experience working with children in a disciplinary setting required
- High expectations for student behavior and ability to enforce school culture with students who are struggling
- Willingness to work in collaboration with the Dean of Students to enforce school policies and procedures
