ISAS position open- Scientific Specialist, Archaeological Collections

About the role

The ISAS is seeking to hire a Scientific Specialist, Archaeological Collections to assist with the management, inventory, documentation, and care of curated archaeological collections. The position is based in Champaign, Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain archaeological collections databases
• Document and catalog artifacts and collections
• Assist with the preservation and conservation of archaeological materials
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for collection management
• Collaborate with other ISAS staff on research projects involving archaeological collections

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, museum studies, or related field
• At least 2 years of experience in archaeological collections management
• Experience with database management systems and artifact cataloging software
• Knowledge of archaeological methods and theories
• Excellent organizational and communication skills

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Skills

• Computer literacy, including proficiency with database management systems and artifact cataloging software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders
