About the role

We are looking for a Cultural Resources Specialist (Archaeologist) to join our Cultural Resources team in California.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and supervision of archaeological and historical surveys, site evaluations, and impact mitigations.
  • Serve as a Principal Investigator, assuring technical quality of processes, methods, and products associated with field and research work.
  • Write and edit technical regulatory compliance reports, research designs, and data-recovery/mitigation plans.
  • Assume project management responsibilities, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating detailed phases of large-scale projects.
  • Act as a liaison with clients and agencies while providing professional mentorship to less experienced cultural resources staff.
  • Travel and perform fieldwork throughout California, including work in remote areas and variable terrain and weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (M.A. or M.S.) in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field.
  • Current status as a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
  • Significant experience conducting analyses for review under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, CEQA, and NEPA.
  • Proven experience acting as a Field Director for archaeological surveys, testing, and data recovery projects.
  • 9+ years of related experience and/or training in cultural resources management.
  • Able to qualify as a Principal Investigator for archaeological investigations on state and federal lands.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with GIS software.

Pay

$100,000 USD - $135,000 USD
