IS TECHNICIAN LDAR I
HPC-Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is seeking an LDAR Technician to join their safety-focused team at a customer site in Sweeny, TX.
About the role
The LDAR Technician identifies, documents, and tags fugitive emissions (gas leaks) from industrial components such as valves and pumps, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations. Using specialized equipment—including Toxic Vapor Analyzers (TVAs/Method 21) or Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras—they monitor, report, and facilitate repairs in refineries, chemical plants, and oil/gas sites. The role supports compliance with company policies and procedures while maintaining strong customer relations through quality, timely industrial cleaning services.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Health & Safety is the top priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy objects.
- Perform routine, scheduled field inspections of components (valves, connectors, pumps, tanks) to detect leaks of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain monitoring equipment such as Flame Ionization Detectors (FID).
- Record inspection data, tag leaking components, and manage inventory within databases like LeakDAS, GuideWare, and SkyBridge.
- Adhere to environmental regulations (e.g., 40 CFR Subpart 60) and strict site safety protocols.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to report leaks and verify repairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Confined space entry and 10-Hour OSHA Training (preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
- Physically active role requiring travel to remote sites or work within complex, loud industrial environments.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to perform repetitive tasks critical for environmental protection.
- Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment, including Nomex coveralls, back belt, slicker suits, rubber boots, fresh air breathing mask, escape pack, and hard hat.
- Ability to work under extreme climate conditions (e.g., high heat index of 95+°F, 98% humidity, subzero temperatures).
- Must withstand exposure to dust, chemical fumes, exhaust, and highly pressurized fluids.
- Physical stamina to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, climb ladders/scaffolding (up to 300 ft), and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work Fridays and weekends as needed.
Schedule
Monday–Thursday, 4/10’s schedule (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM). Must have availability to work Fridays and weekends if needed.
Pay
$19.00 hourly.
